The DVC Homework Program
The Dela Vega City Benevolent Society (DVCBS) proudly operates the GraceKennedy-sponsored Homework Program, a cornerstone of our commitment to education. For years, this initiative has supported the academic growth of children in our community, helping them to build strong foundations for future success.
What We Do
-
Daily After-School Support – Children receive a safe, structured environment where trained tutors and volunteers assist with assignments and exam preparation.
-
Book Voucher Program – Families struggling with costs receive vouchers for textbooks and learning materials, easing the financial burden of education.
-
Technology & Learning Tools – We are steadily working to integrate technology into the program, giving students access to digital resources that strengthen learning outcomes.
-
Mentorship & Guidance – Beyond academics, students are paired with positive role models who encourage discipline, resilience, and self-confidence.
Our Impact
-
Between 50 and 90 students are served each year, from primary school through secondary school.
-
Students who participate consistently show improved grades, stronger study habits, and greater self-esteem.
-
The program has become a safe haven for many children, keeping them positively engaged after school and away from negative influences.
Our Vision
We aim to expand the Homework Program by incorporating more technology, increasing the number of trained tutors, and tracking student performance more systematically. With continued support from partners and donors, we will prepare even more young people to excel academically and pursue their dreams.
